HOWEVER, I try (use the word "try" very loosely) to be on top of things and plan in advance. I know the end of the school year tends to get extremely hectic and everyone is running around with 5,928,571 things to do before the end of the school year!
So, while perusing the goodies in the dollar section at Target this week, I found some really cute $1 "bins" and matching cards with the same print. Of course I scooped up a few to give to my Room Mom, as well as a few other volunteers that have helped me out throughout this year. They look just like this one, but with pink flowery print on the outside (and probably way cheaper quality...but I just had to give this one as an example, since it matches my blog background :) )
My dilemma comes with what to put inside, though! Soaps...stationary...snacks...?!?!?!?!?!
Last year, my team MADE our end of the year gifts for the Room Moms...but that was so much work and probably ended up costing as much (with all the time invested!) as buying something new and cute!!! But I would like to give them something somewhat original and somewhat useful.....
Which leads me to the question of the day...what do you all do for "end of year" gifts for parents? (no, not ALL parents, just those special few that really help ALOT!)
And of course, my brain can't stop there...once I think about it, I'm wondering about "end of year" gifts for my kiddos, too! Last year, I stuffed little bags with lots of goodies (some playing cards with our corresponding math games printed out, some crayons, pencils, a book, etc.)
What do you give your students at the end of the year?? Any cute or new ideas out there??
I thought it could be neat if we shared some ideas (and hopefully it could give me the spark and motivation I need to begin with end of the year things, such as this!), so please, leave your comments and suggestions for what you all do at the end of the year! I always love to hear the differences between teachers (for example, 1st grade versus 6th), and I LOVE all the new ideas!
Hope you're having a HAPPY SATURDAY!!! I know I am enjoying my nice, long weekend! Can't wait to hear your "end of year" gift ideas!
Here are some parent gifts I've done in the past.

No room mom?! So sad!
DeleteBut I will have to admit, there are times (some more than others) that I WISH I didn't have a room mom!
Glad you stopped by! :) Happy Sunday!
We don't have a room mom either! But you should check out Vista Print for some custom things you could get for the parents... I got my mom personalized post it notes, pens, and stationary for next to nothing. You could try that with Easter grass at the bottom to make it look a bit more full!
ReplyDeleteFor the kids, I LOVE what I did last year... I bought beach buckets at the dollar store and filled them with books from library book sales and little trinkets from the dollar store... but there was a catch! I made a list of "academic" activities they could do with each of their gifts: e.g. write their words big and drive their toy car along each letter, spell a word while playing catch, and more that I can't think of now... but I really want to dig out that letter and those pictures now!!!
